    Harrisburg RDA has hired Gauge Engineering to propose design alternatives to improve safety at the intersection of McKinney Street and the Columbia Tap Trail.

    In 2022 the Harrisburg RDA, in collaboration with the East Downtown RDA, was awarded a Harris County Precinct 2 Project Participation Grant for completion of a Preliminary Engineering Report (PER) for Commerce Street from IH-69 to Drennan Street.

    For the second Community Development Program Award, the Harrisburg RDA agreed to undertake construction of signage at strategic locations recognizing historic Second Ward.

    In 2023, the developers of The Plant at Harrisburg began construction on public open space improvements at the intersection of Sampson and Harrisburg using a combination of private resources and funding from the Harrisburg RDA.

    In 2023 Gauge Engineering completed an assessment of conditions of all sidewalks within the boundaries of the Harrisburg RDA and is currently in the process of prioritizing improvements based upon need and understanding of city priorities.

    Harrisburg RDA is proposing full reconstruction of the Telephone Road corridor from Lawndale to Lockwood for purposes of improving traffic safety and conditions for all users, including vehicular traffic, METRO service, cyclists, and pedestrians.

    The Harrisburg RDA has commissioned design of a gateway monument to be located at the intersection of Lawndale and Wayside on property managed by the Gus Wortham Golf Course. The monument is intended to introduce travelers to the East End both by name and character. Detailed design of the monument is complete. Harrisburg RDA is currently in the process of applying for development plat variances needed to move the project forward to construction.

    In 2022, in correlation with the Eastwood Park master plan, Clark Condon Associates recommended conceptual improvements to Harrisburg Trail for purposes of enhancing the trail and increasing its attraction to a variety of users, including possibilities of improved lighting, more and better trail amenities, enhanced connectivity to other trails, and safety improvements at the numerous intersections with roadways.

    In 2019, the Houston Parks and Recreation Department and community residents completed a master plan for Mason Park. Implementation of the master plan, completed by Clark Condon Associates, is proposed to take place over six phases.
