Estimated Project Cost: $1.45M
In 2022, in correlation with the Eastwood Park master plan, Clark Condon Associates recommended conceptual improvements to Harrisburg Trail for purposes of enhancing the trail and increasing its attraction to a variety of users, including possibilities of improved lighting, more and better trail amenities, enhanced connectivity to other trails, and safety improvements at the numerous intersections with roadways.
The Harrisburg RDA recently submitted a Community Funding Project Request through the US Department of Housing and Urban Development for purposes of design and construction of safety improvements where the trail crosses 24 local roadways so that pedestrians, cyclists and vehicular traffic can move safely with improved awareness and travel conditions.
Harrisburg RDA has budgeted $1.45M for trail improvements in hopes of leveraging funding from other sources for additional improvements to the trail. A Request for Proposals is expected to be released in early 2025 for preliminary and potential detailed design for an initial phase of trail improvements that will include opportunities for community engagement. Improvements approved for detailed design and construction will be based upon the expected amount and sources of funding.
