Estimated Project Cost: $5.35M

In 2019, the Houston Parks and Recreation Department and community residents completed a master plan for Mason Park. Implementation of the master plan, completed by Clark Condon Associates, is proposed to take place over six phases.

Harrisburg RDA, in collaboration with the Houston Parks and Recreation Department (HPARD), proposes improvements to the area of the master plan designated the Heart of the Park. Anticipated improvements include a number of upgrades requested by the community. The park will receive a new and expanded play area, a splashpad site, a series of new landscaped gardens, a new and fully programmed FitLot exercise area, as well as other improvements. Improvements are intended to complement efforts by HPARD to enhance and reopen the historic community/recreation center.

SWA Group has been selected to design and manage construction of Phase I improvements. Preliminary and Detailed Design, including community engagement, is expected to begin in late 2024 and be complete by mid 2026. Construction is expected to be complete by early 2028.
